Job Description

The Technician Specialist is responsible for safely and efficiently performing chemical and physical analyses of samples in support of quality control, research and development and customer testing at the Analytical Services Center. The position requires working on different shifts as necessary to support operations.

  • Performs chemical analyses and scientific tests using both routine and special techniques in compliance with all safety standards
  • Responsible and held accountable for compliance with all Critical Life Safety Policies, Environmental, Health and Safety training, policies and procedures 
  • Active participation in safety programs, along with the ability to work safely and maintain a clean and orderly lab environment
  • Collects, analyzes and processes laboratory samples
  • Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic advanced computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines. 
  • Installs, operates, maintains and repairs laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies
  • Provides technical support to customers as applicable by lab area
  • Demonstrates a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Ensure analytical data and services meet internal and external customer needs and expectations, including customer visits and audits
  • Performs all other duties and assumes other responsibilities, as required

Required Skills

  • Strong safety focus
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including written and oral communications skills
  • Knowledge in chemistry, math, and computers including analytical or scientific method or operational process
  • Demonstrated skills with computer programs such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Minitab
  • Self-direction and the ability to work according to priorities are necessary
  • Displays strong leadership behaviors

Required Experience

  • B.S. or higher in STEM discipline or related scientific fields required
  • 2+ yrs of experience working in a lab related role or performing bench work
  • Willing to work different shifts is required

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Familiarity with a production manufacturing environment
