Job Description

As the Technical Training Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the maintenance department enhancing technical competency. You will lead the implementation of best practices throughout the maintenance department, encompassing Safety, Quality, Technical Functions, and Job Instruction based on Adult Learning methodologies and Continuous Improvement methodologies, You will also collaborate with all departments; you will continuously assess training needs and identify areas for improvement to ensure that associates are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.

Responsibilities

  • Train new and existing employees.
  • Assess the training needs of new and existing employees.
  • Map out training plans for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Assigns and track qualification and requalification.
  • Tracks employee success and progress
  • Guide and mentor employees
  • Evaluate employee performance and gauge where skills need improvement.
  • Manages training matrix and training schedule. Maintains training records and documentation.
  • Direct common skills shortages and create training plans to address.
  • Create training programs and prepare learning materials to meet learning needs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accurate and up to date content.
  • Customize training programs to meet the specific needs of different audiences.
  • Coordinate the delivery of technical training programs.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs and adjust.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, HR Development or Training; or a nationally recognized training certification; or five (5) years’ experience as a training facilitator, training coordinator, or any other similar role, with a focus on learner engagement.
  • 1+ years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment is required.
  • Advanced organization skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments, industry knowledge, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Experience with curriculum planning/course mapping
  • Sound knowledge of traditional and modern training techniques
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Learning Management Systems
