Job Description
W.R. Grace is a global leader in manufacturing specialty chemicals. We currently have a leadership role at our finish goods warehouse in Curtis Bay, MD. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will lead a team of 8 warehouse employees on second shift. You will be responsible for delivering excellent service and quality for three of W.R. Grace’s business units.
- Ensuring that employees are equipped and operate all warehouse equipment in a safe manner. Comply with Grace EHS Policy
- Promote an environment of safety, continuous improvement and delivering against productivity targets
- Responsible for knowing safe operation of warehouse equipment including powered industrial trucks, sit down forklifts, stand up reach trucks, etc.
- Develop and maintain an engaged, productive workforce that is focused on delivering to W.R. Grace’s bottom line
- Supervise in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement rules, with emphasis on safe operations
- Train, coach and correct employee behavior in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Work with warehouse team, third party drivers and other Grace employees to solve problems in order to complete daily tasks
- Ensure that all outbound shipments are processed in accordance to Grace’s standards to satisfy our customers
- Review and assign specific tasks in a fair and responsible manner to warehouse team
- Direct drivers on dock and load assignments
- Ensure all warehouse personnel remain current on all warehouse and corporate training requirements
- Provide back-up support to office and first shift management as necessary
- Required to work a shift schedule and work overtime during peak periods as well as holidays as determined by the business requirements
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid process and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Demonstrated focus on solving problems and issues
- Ability to multi-task in order to complete tasks on time and accurately
- Excellent follow-up skills
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in logistics / warehousing management / supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a union environment following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
- SAP user experience is a plus
- Experience in inventory and logistics transactions
