Job Description

Grace is in search of a Maintenance Engineer for our Curtis Bay, MD, site who will report to the Lead Reliability Engineer, Fixed Equipment. The Maintenance Engineer responsibilities include:


  • Conducts Critical Equipment Analysis and Equipment Criticality Assessments
  • Manages critical equipment lists
  • Tracks and analyzes reliability data on critical equipment
  • Develops Maintenance Strategies by equipment types
  • Designs and implements PM/PdM programs
  • Identifies and defines reliability improvement projects
  • Troubleshoots long term equipment issues
  • Supports and optimizes equipment shutdown schedules and plans
  • Develops and improves Condition Monitoring Program
  • Identifies opportunities to improve Lubrication Program
  • Develop & Maintain Reliability Based Equipment and Design Standards
  • Manage asset lifecycle planning and replacement
  • Participates in safety programs and initiatives
  • Supports & facilitates RCAs
  • Writes and edits SOP/work instructions
  • Supports the training of site personnel
  • Supports the Management of Change (MOCs) process
  • Assists in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including GMP and PSSR
  • Conducts incident investigations
  • Supports Purchasing/GRs/New Vendors/Requisitions
  • Redlines, manages, and catalogs engineering drawings and documents
  • Conducts data sourcing and analysis

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, etc.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, and other maintenance scheduling tools
  • Understand and perform PHA, FMEA, CA (Criticality Analysis), Root-cause, and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
  • Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
    • Value-added preventive maintenance tasks,
    • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies (designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems)
  • Provide input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include:
    • Capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues.
    Proactive problem-solving approach focused on action.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of maintenance or reliability engineering experience with a chemical manufacturing plant

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data analysis techniques that can include:
    • Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling and prediction, Fault Tree Analysis, Weibull Tree Analysis, Six Sigma Methodology
  • Work with Production to perform analyses of assets including:
    • Asset Utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, remaining useful life, 
    • Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability, and costs of assets
