W.R. Grace operates a comprehensive manufacturing plant and a technical and analytical services center in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore. The company's largest facility at nearly a million square feet, Curtis Bay consists of 10 production plants that manufacture hundreds of products from our four product lines; fluid cracking catalysts, hydro-processing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas. With approximately 600 employees, Grace is a significant employer in the Curtis Bay area. More than half of the products manufactured there are exported at a value of approximately $150 million annually. 

 We have an immediate need for a Site Logistics, Shipping & Receiving Manager at our Curtis Bay Facility. This position will be responsible for building a centralized Logistics function for Curtis Bay operations and managing all aspects of Logistics Operations. In addition, this role will be responsible for the following:


  • Responsible for building a centralized logistics function for Curtis Bay operations and managing all aspects of Logistics Operations.
  • Assures safe working environment for employees and environmental compliance.    Takes individual responsibility for continually improving the safety performance of the department.  Utilizes RCCA to investigate any incidents.
  • Serves as the site Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods coordinator and assures compliance to current OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
  • Ensures Logistics meets customer requirements, both internal and external.  Works with Plants, Sales, customers and quality group as necessary to ensure requirements are met for scheduling, storing and shipping finished goods from Curtis Bay to/from Cabot and other 3rd party warehousing as needed.  
  • Logistics supervisors report to this role.  In addition, this role manages the site’s terminal area which is responsible for maintaining inventory of and delivering shared raw materials across the Curtis Bay site and rail car movements
  • Manages packaging and finished product inventories in most cost-efficient manner using SAP and bar coding.   Develops tools for tracking DOH, aging schedules, cost allocation, spending, and service trends.   Monitors the aging of finished goods inventories, and takes steps to avoid slow moving, shelf life and obsolescence issues.
  • Develops salary plan for the department and manages the performance and development of the staff. Champions and implements improvements as dictated by business needs.
  • Oversees the movement of semi-finished and finished goods between Curtis Bay and Cabot and other 3rd party warehouses as needed.  Ensures that the necessary transactions are completed in SAP to initiate the transfer of material and maintain accurate inventory
  • Monitors various data information systems to ensure inventory and operating cost information is accurate and up to date.
  • Develops and implements processes throughout the facilities to increase consistency and efficiency resulting in improved performance, productivity and cost.
  • Provides financial and operations reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years warehousing/logistics or operations management experience
  • Change management and leadership experience 
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proactive individual who takes ownership to resolve problems and issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (WORD and EXCEL).
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain timely updates and inventory accuracy.
  • Excellent follow-up skills to achieve on time shipments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP user experience in inventory and logistics transactions
