Job Description

Grace is seeking an Operations Supervisor - FCC for our Curtis Bay, MD location. All employees at the Curtis Bay site are expected to work safely. Each employee has environment, health and safety roles and responsibilities. The employee is required to participate in achieving compliance with our EHS Policies including, but not limited to, emergency preparedness and response as defined in site-wide and local area documentation.

  • Directly supervises employees in the specialty chemicals manufacturing setting.
  • Assure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace for all employees.  Address hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes production to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Responsible for start-up, shutdown and normal process operation to include manual operation of the process using field controls.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety standards. Identifies and reports or resolves hazards.
  • Directs response to emergency situations to include emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards by performing requisite audits.
  • Complete all regulatory testing and conduct safety meetings for operations personnel as required.
  • Enter SAP notifications as required for maintenance.
  • Inform operations personnel of planned maintenance by action as a liaison between maintenance and operations through effective communication.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.
  • Analyzes and resolves production issues to include enforcing labor relation's policies and resolving grievances.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to direct and motivate employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a safe manner and teach employees on safety standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shift work to include both days, nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrated experience with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Previous experience with performance appraisal performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and conflict resolution.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3+ year’s supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
