Job Description
Grace is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our Specialty Catalyst Plant Team! This role reports to our Operations Manager and is located at our Curtis Bay Site.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees in the specialty chemicals manufacturing setting
- Assure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace
- Analyzes production to create production schedules
- Responsible for start-up, shutdown and normal process operations field controls
- Ensures compliance with environmental, health and safety standards. Identifies, reports, resolves hazards
- Directs response to emergency situations and emergency shutdown procedures
- Coaches and counsels operations personnel re assignment of duties
- Interfaces with others to ensure customer deadlines are met
- Inspects and measures product to verify conformance to specifications
- Directs workers in adjusting equipment and processes to correct products which fail to meet quality standards
- Complete regulatory testing and conduct safety meetings for operations personnel
- Enter SAP notifications maintenance
- Inform operations personnel as a liaison between maintenance and operations through effective communication
- Develops, recommends, implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shift work to include both days, nights and weekends.

- Demonstrated ability to act in a safe manner and teach employees on safety standards.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Demonstrated experience with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Previous experience with appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and conflict resolution
