Job Description
We’re hiring a Maintenance and Reliability Leader to work at our Baltimore (Curtis Bay), MD site. This is Grace's largest chemical manufacturing site and has been active since 1909. You will report to the Maintenance Manager and be a critical member in establishing plans to prevent failures in the future. The Lead supports the overall site including 6 production plants as well as the powerhouse, utilities and wastewater treatment operations.
The Maintenance and Reliability Leader will be the SME for Fixed Equipment and provide advanced technical expertise and strategic guidance for the design, inspection, maintenance, and integrity management of fixed mechanical assets. You will lead the continuous improvement efforts of our assets by improving equipment preventive care while focusing on increasing uptime/availability. You will collaborate with cross functional teams as a technical resource to develop reliability improvement solutions.
In addition, you will manage a team of maintenance engineers who are focused on daily activities, reliability engineers focused on improvement opportunities and inspectors.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage a preventive and predictive maintenance program using techniques such as automated vibration monitoring, thermal imaging, and lubrication analysis.
- Develop current and future Maintenance and Reliability leaders through coaching, talent management and modeling best practices
- Manage the site Mechanical Integrity Program
- Provide expertise and guidance on pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and other static equipment.
- Ensure Fixed Equipment assets operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Drive transformation and continuous improvement and utilize subject matter expertise leaders in fixed, rotational and other specialty equipment.
- Develop and manage critical equipment management including lists, preventive maintenance (PM) plans, and spare inventory requirements in SAP.
- Support reliability-based capital and maintenance projects including scope development, planning/scheduling, budgeting, and field construction management.
- Provide technical support to the maintenance department for routine issues and manage mechanical/electrical contracts as necessary.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) studies to identify equipment failures and develop corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department to ensure compliance with safety protocols and participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs).
- Manage site maintenance budgets and track maintenance metrics to improve up time and reduce reactive work.
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 7-10 years maintenance and reliability experience in an industrial manufacturing environment such as Chemical, Paper, Metals, Refinery, or Pharmaceutical.
- Prior people management experience.
- Proficient in SAP or another ERP.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Prior experience working in a union environment.
- Demonstrated experience using automated vibration monitoring, thermal imaging, and lubrication analysis.
- Experience using solids handling equipment such as rotary kilns, conveyors, and spray dryers.
- Experience managing capital and maintenance projects.
