Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer at the Curtis Bay has the following responsibilities:

  • Identifies, initiates, coordinates, and completes maintenance process improvement opportunities.
  • Assure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace for all employees.  Address hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Works with Project Engineering with Process Safety Management implementation in Maintenance + Engineering; i.e., work practices, design and repair standards, management of change, Mechanical Integrity, etc.
  • Performs FMEA’s and RCFA’s to ensure long term maintenance equipment problems are appropriately investigated with solutions implemented.
  • Facilitates positive change in the Maintenance organization by pro-actively driving department initiatives.  Acts as a change agent in implementing cross-functional plant business objectives.
  • Reviews major purchases and capital projects to optimize life cycle costs
  • Assists in tracking metrics and generating the monthly maintenance report for area of responsibility.
  • Assists maintenance personnel by troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems as necessary
  • Provides input into capital budget to drive improved reliability
  • Proactively identifies development opportunities to build reliability expertise
  • Provides independent quality control of in house and outside contract services
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Project and Office and other maintenance scheduling tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills - work with multiple departments to solve problems.
  • Understanding of company and industrial design and repair standards and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of proper equipment design and proper operation.
  • Knowledge of Engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, etc.
  • Experience using SAP PM a plus.
  • Knowledge of API standards for tank inspection and repairs.
  • Experience with piping systems especially inspections and repairs.
  • Knowledge of equipment monitoring such as Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, Oil Analysis and Infrared Thermography.
  • Knowledge of industrial lubrication.

Required Experience

  • BS Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering OR currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5+ years of engineering/maintenance experience in a manufacturing envioronment. 
  • 5+ years engineering/maintenance experience, preferably in heavy manufacturing or chemical environment.
