Job Description

The Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer is a member of the Engineering Team at the Grace Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, MD.  The Curtis Bay plant is one of Grace’s largest chemical manufacturing sites and has been in operation since 1909.  It consists of six production plants which manufacture hundreds of products for all Grace businesses.

 

The Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer provides site-wide support for process instrumentation and work on the instrument and electrical related deliverables for process and site improvements projects.

 

This role is on-site in Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Design and improve instrumentation systems for various applications in chemical processes and site utilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards.   
  • Support a team of site Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians in troubleshooting process instrumentation systems, burner management systems, and low and medium voltage electrical power systems. 
  • Collaborate with Process Controls Engineers to integrate instrumentation systems in the sites Honeywell DCS and provide technical support when those systems interact.
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) analysis of deviations involving instrumentation systems.
  • Analyze and improve maintenance work processes for process instruments, including preventative maintenance plans, SOPs and critical equipment spares inventory.
  • Participate in commissioning and startup activities, including PHA, PSSR, MOC, and providing training to other plant personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or related technical field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in chemical manufacturing or related process industry.
  • Experience with process instrumentation system design, logic controllers, and their applications in industrial settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance for maintenance work management.
  • Experience with Honeywell TDC-3000 and Experion process control systems.
  • Six Sigma or Lean experience – Green/Black Belt certification
