Job Description

Environmental Engineer

 

The Environmental Engineer is part of an exciting, fast-paced Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) team!

The Environmental Engineer plays a critical role in managing our Title V Operating Permit. The health and safety of our employees, customers, community, and the environment is our top priority at Grace.

Success in this role requires effective organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, ownership and accountability.

The Environmental Engineer is located in Curtis Bay, MD and reports to the Environmental Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, implement and develop the site’s Title V Operating Permit
  • Complete all required reporting associated with air compliance
  • Manage modifications to Title V permit and support the EHSS Department in all environmental media as necessary
  • Apply for permit renewals and permit modifications
  • Identify, interpret and review EHSS legal and other requirements, and implement programs/procedures to ensure compliance
  • Review all plant maintenance and capital modifications to processes and process changes via management of change (MOC) approval
  • Provide environmental guidance and assistance to Management and to line supervisors in these disciplines, at both Curtis Bay and the Cabot Warehouse facility
  • Partner with the Curtis Bay Site Director on EHSS issues and site strategy, and support world class EHSS performance
  • Serve as backup to Environmental Manager with Department of Transportation (DOT) certification including hazardous waste management
  • Support all EHSS management systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years of chemical manufacturing and/or regulatory experience
  • Proficient with Excel – PivotTable and VLOOKUP

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Title V reporting experience
  • Dangerous Goods DOT Certification
  • SAP or similar maintenance and materials management system experience
