Job Description

Based at the Curtis Bay Analytical Services Center, the Analytical Reliability Coordinator will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of analytical equipment in the Chemicals, X-ray, Surface Area, Physicals, and Ecat laboratories. This position is also responsible for ensuring the correct operation of the IT Systems for the lab.

 

  • Lead, demonstrate and ensure a strong safety culture with a particular emphasis on maintaining and improving equipment and facility safety
  • Responsible for the installation and qualification of all new analytical equipment ensuring protocols are followed and GMP guidelines are respected
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance is done on equipment and conduct or arrange for maintenance on lab equipment when it fails. Establish maintenance & scheduling process for analytical equipment
  • Support the overall capital plan and service plan for Curtis Bay ASC.  Manage service contracts and plan for upgrading and replacing equipment and facilities such that service levels meet the needs of internal and external customers
  • Engage in personal development through appropriate vendor training
  • Maintain inventory control of equipment repair tools and parts
  • Lead interactions with IT to ensure lab information systems are supported and performing as desired.  Lead projects when new instruments are interfaced to the GLIMS lab information management system
  • Manage service contracts with equipment vendors to ensure critical equipment is under contract.  Identify cases where service contracts are un-necessary
  • Train and develop lab staff to perform troubleshooting & maintenance that can be done by technicians
  • Conduct hands-on maintenance on lab equipment as necessary.  Arrange for vendor maintenance support when needed
  • Troubleshoot equipment when problems arise providing on-call 24/7 support if questions arise
  • Analyzing and documenting root cause of equipment failures and executing corrective actions

Required Experience

  • Associates Degree in technical field or B.S. or higher in scientific/engineering field
  • 3+ years of hand’s on experience in service and repair of analytical equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lab Information systems preference
