Job Description


We are hiring an Analytical Chemist at our Curtis Bay site in Baltimore, MD! The position reports directly to the Characterization Manager and will work a Monday - Friday day schedule.

The Chemist leads the laboratory to ensure delivery against metrics and supervises a team of 5-10 technicians ensuring they are developed and mentored. In addition, they perform basic theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigations directed toward new product development. They plan, assist, and execute assigned research and development work to support the company’s product development programs. The Chemist also manages installation and provides validation reports for new instruments along with developing new methodologies. They participate in and carry out assigned product development activities, testing programs, and scale up in the lab. They evaluate and ensure performance and cost of existing products while developing new products. They support adherence to quality regulations and customer audits such as ISO and GMP. They identify customer needs and develop next-generation products and formulations. They document work accurately, interpret results and provide suggestions for further actions to supervisors and internal and external development personnel.



  • Supervises and develops a team of 5-10 technicians
  • Performs chemical analyses and scientific tests using both routine and special techniques in compliance with all safety standards.
  • Responsible and held accountable for compliance with all Critical Life Safety Policies, Environmental, Health and Safety training, policies, and procedures.
  • Active participation in safety programs, along with the ability to work safely and maintain a clean and orderly lab environment
  • Collects, analyzes, and processes laboratory samples.
  • Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic advanced computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines.
  • Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems, and supplies. Provides technical support to customers as applicable by lab area.
  • Demonstrates a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure analytical data and services meet internal and external customer needs and expectations, including customer visits and audits.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials

Required Qualifications


  • B.S. or higher in Chemistry or related scientific fields required.
  • Will typically have at least 3-6 years related laboratory and technical experience
  • Strong safety focus. Holds safety as a top priority while working in a team setting.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with advanced knowledge in chemistry, math, and computers.
  • Familiarity with computer programs such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Minitab.
  • Self-direction and the ability to work according to priorities are necessary.
  • Strong written and oral communications 
  • Experience with analytical or scientific method or operational process
  • Results-focused with strong project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Supervisory experience 
  • Willing to work flexibly across different shifts to provide supervision is required. Familiarity with a production manufacturing environment.
