Job Description

Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Coordinator

 

Grace is hiring an Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Coordinator.   The Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate EHS&S requirements.

 

The Coordinator delivers trainings, oversees contractor safety compliance and actively coaches Plant employees.

 

This role is in Aiken, SC where Grace produces Kaolin Pulverized Clay. They report to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and document necessary audits, inspections, and drills on schedule
  • Complete assignments effectively and in a timely manner
  • Maintain site EHS procedure ownership in a manner which supports site compliance
  • Coordinate Industrial Hygiene duties
  • Schedule and lead training courses to meet corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain site training matrix, training records, computer-based training system and communicate Grace requirements
  • Complete evaluations for contractors
  • Provide safety coaching to employees
  • Review safe work and critical life safety
  • Coordinate sampling and documentation efforts
  • Work with plant personnel to identify and develop solutions for continual improvement opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Safety or an Environmental specialization
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing industry, performing safety and/or environmental related activities including environmental excellence and compliance programs
  • Experience training in a professional environment across all levels of the organization
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations which include complex information
  • Experience with detailed record keeping
  • Experience using Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental, Health, Safety or related discipline.
  • Experience with the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)
  • Experience with industrial hygiene and safety compliance
  • Experience implementing procedures and systems to ensure environmental and safety regulatory requirements
  • Experience in the Kaolin clay industry
  • Experience with SAP, Excel, and SharePoint 

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
