Job Description
The Chicago 71st plant is seeking a dedicated Logistics Specialist to join our Logistics Team. This role, reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, will promote a safe working environment, manage material flow in and out of the plant, work closely with our Logistics team and our 3PL warehouse, ensure inventory accuracy, and address near-term storage requirements. This position is perfect for someone who thrives on driving continuous improvement efforts and excels in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Grace’s site at 4099 West 71st street employs ~100 people and manufactures catalysts used in petroleum refining and specialty petrochemical industries for removing sulfur, nitrogen, and other impurities from crude oil streams. Responsibilities
- Ordering and Procurement: Manage the ordering process for raw materials, packaging, tank farm supplies, and traded goods to ensure timely availability.
- Receipt Management: Oversee the receipts process for raw materials and trading goods, including managing work cycles and SAP transactions to support third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
- Inventory Accuracy: Ensure inventory accuracy through effective cycle count management and necessary adjustments to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Collaboration with 3PLs: Work closely with 3PL warehouses and tollers to provide work instructions, approve lots for shipping, and offer any required support.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality department to manage inventory effectively, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Engage with corporate roles to align on plant capabilities and execute the supply plan efficiently.
- Service Management: Oversee services related to trailer rentals, repairs, waste management, and propane supply to ensure operational efficiency.
- Hazmat Management: Manage hazmat satellite storage reporting and compliance to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.

Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Experience in raw material management within a manufacturing environment.
- Macro Skills: Familiarity with macro use and skills is advantageous for data analysis and process automation.
