Job Description

The Product Manager is responsible for maximizing the profitability of the product portfolio in line with the business strategy. He provides the necessary product management support to enable effective business operation and champions all product-related profitability enhancement programs.

Profitability

  • With a margin velocity mindset, take ownership and provide direction on price and pricing guidelines, and on cost and cost optimization initiatives
  • Provide leadership and direction on product classification and allocation guidelines to enable sales and ISC to implement these
  • Develop and use models and metrics to ensure implementation, to measure success and to adjust if necessary

Product Portfolio Management

  • Product management across the defined product portfolio – actively use the Management of Change process (“MOC”), ensure EHS & PS compliance, ensure relevant documentation like Product Information Sheets, including packaging and labeling
  • In collaboration with marketing, own the list of active SKU that can be sold in a given sales region (“Product Portfolio”). Ensure the data integrity of the key material master fields. Semi-annual SKU and GM analysis
  • In cooperation with marketing Identify portfolio product gaps and establish roadmap for new product development / implementation. Participate in new product launches
  • Interface with Quality to ensure customer expectations are routinely met and support troubleshooting efforts related to product quality for the segment

Pivot-point between Integrated Supply Chain (“ISC”) and Materials Technologies

  • In collaboration with ISC, manage the asset strategy to ensure capacity planning and future capacity needs
  • Own the business cases for new assets
  • In collaboration with ISC, manage existing toll manufacturers and suppliers. Evaluate alternative toll manufacturers and suppliers for established processes, assess competitiveness vs. toll current/own manufacturing and champion approval
  • Lead creative projects to drive top line growth linked to sourcing of specific materials

  • Good interpersonal skills in leading and managing multi-functional teams comprising members from different culture/ethnic backgrounds. Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
  • Proven ability to use influencing power rather than formal authority to lead the teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Resourceful and proven ability to execute initiatives in a timely manner
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in English
  • Strong analytical and process skills
 

Preferred Qualifications

B.S. degree from an accredited college/university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related field is a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing/product management strongly preferred
  • 5 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry preferred
