Job Description

This is an opportunity to join the W. R. Grace team as a Process Control Engineer based at our plant located in Norco, LA.  In this position, you will be responsible for designing, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and overseeing implementations of new processes or existing systems.  Position will create and implement new strategies to improve process efficiency, as well as supporting start-up activities.


  • Implement control solutions for Honeywell DCS and PLC based control systems.
  • Perform benefit studies highlighting the value of complex optimization solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing and maintaining a 5-year plan for necessary upgrades to the DCS and control systems.
  • Develop multivariable control and optimization solutions, inferential property estimators and advanced regulatory control.
  • Perform dynamic model identification and control application testing and acceptance.
  • Participate in proposal development, and provide customer training.
  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to other engineers, specialists, contractors and customers within a support role for the Process Control and Optimization applications.
  • The Engineer will be involved in phases of the project scope from conception through to post acceptance support and maintenance.
  • Responsible for the technical execution of the scope of work within the project schedule and cost budget ($1MM+ projects).
  • Participate in area PHAs, provide safety interlock expertise, and develop an understanding of area field instrumentation.
  • Update, design CL code or interface change on DCS based on PHA finding.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation and PM support of multiple safety systems. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and approving MOCs.
  • Work with the APC group within Grace providing information and expertise to connect the two systems.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiar with Honeywell DCS system: Honeywell Experion or Honeywell TPS.
  • Basic IT knowledge such as laptop and phone setup, maintain Aspen server side administration, etc.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in chemical plant manufacturing environment supported by an instrumentation background.
