Job Description

Summary of the duties of the position:

Accountable for the professional and technical leadership of the process control engineering staff and the continuous improvement of the process capability and capacity


Primary responsibilities for this position:

  • Supports the development and maintains knowledge of Grace & industry best practices for process controls engineering
  • Provides mentoring and professional development for the Process Controls Engineers in their team
  • Allocates process controls engineering resources to achieve goals and priorities
  • Establishes the methodologies, tools, standards, and operating procedures for process controls engineering
  • Maintains the prioritized portfolio of current and potential projects
  • Investigates new technologies for process and productivity improvements
  • Serves as a working leader with direct accountability for providing process control services to the site
  • Maintains over-all understanding of process capability & capacity
  • Implements process control standards and SOPs
  • Provides process control support for project design and execution
  • Troubleshoots DCS process control issues
  • Manage DCS hardware infrastructure
  • Ensures DCS System backup
  • Implements functional description into DCS logic based upon LOPA
  • Maintain DCS system documentation (Alarm, Interlock, P&ID)
  • Maintains the Honeywell PHD database.
  • Verifies reliability and accuracy of equipment/instrumentation for the monitoring of process applications
  • Conducts loop checks
  • Conducts DCS validation of new equipment
  • Develop scopes on what programs are doing
  • Develops and conducts DCS user training
  • Participates in safety programs and initiatives
  • Supports & facilitates RCAs
  • Writes and edits SOP/work instructions
  • Conduct Management of Change (MOCs)
  • Support Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including GMP and PSSR
  • Conducts and Supports Commissioning and Startup Activities
  • Conducts daily plant inspections of the control system.
  • Conducts OIRs and incident investigations
  • Supports Purchasing/GRs/New Vendors/Requisitions
  • Redlines Engineering Drawings and Documents
  • Manages and catalogs engineering documents and drawings
  • Manage process information and updates for P&ID, MOC, Interlock Schedule, etc.
  • Executes productivity projects
  • Conducts data sourcing and analysis

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or another engineering discipline or Computer Science
  • 7+ years of process control engineering experience
  • 1+ years of experience in Honeywell Experion preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Six Sigma certification/Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred
