Job Description

W.R. Grace & Co is seeking a Technician Specialist to join our Process Technology team. The incumbent should exhibit a safety focused mentality and must also be comfortable working within a pilot plant environment.

  • Follow all Environmental, Health and Safety requirements. Responsible and held accountable for compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training, policies and procedures. Adhere to principles and policies of the Grace 5S program. 
  • Responsible for, but not limited to knowing a variety of equipment and process operations. Must master manual and auto operation of various processes, and sample and analyze pilot plant material. Frequently diagnoses and solves technical problems.
  • Assists engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks.
  • Performs chemical analyses and scientific tests using both routine and special techniques in compliance with all safety standards.
  • Collects, analyzes and processes laboratory samples.

  • Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines.

  • Active participation in required local safety program, along with the ability to work safely and maintain a clean and orderly lab environment. 

  • Installs, operates, maintains and repairs laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies Provides technical product support to customers.

  • Provides a high level of product knowledge, assists in trouble shooting, start up, and proper application.

  • Maintain cost controls for specific maintenance project activities, including raw materials procurement for the lab

  • Good mechanical aptitude for equipment set-up and minor maintenance

  • Must utilize sound judgment at all times.
  • PC skills are essential, including the ability to navigate and utilize various complex software systems.
  • Required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Required Experience
  • 2- 4 yrs. of experience working within a manufacturing company in a similar role.
