Job Description

The Process Quality Leader will drive continuous improvement across Grace manufacturing sites through systematic, pre-emptive analysis and improvement in process capabilities, analytical capabilities and control plan implementation. The position will need to establish and stay focused on metrics around manufacturing process quality to demonstrate improvements and prioritize resources. Using Critical to Quality documents as starting points, they will need to assess the manufacturing/ analytical capabilities to meet the ranges defined within the documents. They will own investigations of critical quality deviations arising from process excursions or analytical variations to understand root causes and ensure implementation of corrective actions at respective manufacturing sites. Additionally they will validate gage capabilities for new products as defined in the Critical to Quality documents.

Responsibilities

Initiates and implements technology based analysis as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines in terms of process and analytical capabilities. Develop/ monitor process quality metrics for Grace to identify improvement opportunities driving improvement in First Pass Quality and reduction in Cost of Poor Quality.

Coordinate regular reviews of current process capabilities for Grace products prioritized based on risk and opportunities using Six sigma tools. Drive action from the reviews for continuous improvement including updates to CTQs and Control Plans. Lead root cause investigations around significant process quality variations including analysis of process capabilities and analytical variations. Support quality teams at local sites as necessary to ensure appropriate verification and resolution.

Drive the implementation of plant level controls plans to be used as the defining structure for achieving process quality. Work closely with Product Line process technology teams to leverage expertise in defining risks and opportunities to achieving improvements in process quality.

Oversees calibration and testing programs including Gage R&R initiatives for new and existing test methods. Ensures development of global, consistent testing standards for manufactured product to meet customer requirements including coordination of inter-laboratory correlation programs. Work with QC labs to implement metrics for monitoring/ measuring performance of the labs.

Required Experience

Engineering degree: Chemical Engineering

10+ years industrial technical experience

5+ years technical management experience with demonstrated ability to build and lead a diverse organization of technical personnel, manage a complex project portfolio and manage to safety, financial and team performance objectives

Demonstrated ability to network effectively within the business unit and to stakeholders and collaborators outside the team

Up to 30% of travel including international will be required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in analytical lab preferred but not required.

Six Sigma black-belt certification preferred. Proven record of accomplishment using six sigma tools to drive business performance improvement.
