Job Description

The Electrical Engineer is accountable for providing site wide instrument and electrical systems maintenance/project support to ensure the achievement of production goals.

  • Troubleshoots area instrument/electrical systems issues
  • Site SME (subject matter expert) for instrument and electrical systems
  • Provides Operations Supervisor’s first line of support for solving instrument/electrical equipment reliability issues
  • Tracks, manages, and analyzes area instrument/electrical systems
  • Supports IE planning for shutdowns
  • Manages instrument/electrical systems shutdown planning & execution
  • Trains & improves maintenance management processes & SOPs
  • Identifies and scopes instrument/electrical systems improvement projects
  • Manages small projects for instrument/electrical systems, instrument/electrical equipment lists, assignments and documents in SAP, DMS, etc
  • Coordinates external support for instrument and electrical maintenance
  • Develops instrument/electrical equipment maintenance plans, PM, PdM, and CBM routines, and Maintenance & Operations Training for new instrument and electrical equipment
  • Performs Equipment Availability/Failure Analysis and writes and edits SOPs
  • Participates on Management of Change (MOCs) process and Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including GMP and PSSR
  • Conducts Commissioning and Startup Activities, daily plant inspections and walkthroughs, OIRs and incident investigations
  • Manages and catalogs engineering documents and drawings, process information and updates for P&ID, MOC, Interlock Sched, etc.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of process control instrumentation

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years electrical engineering experience in a petro-chemical manufacturing plant or other heavy industrial setting
  • Experience with PLC and Distributed Control Systems
  • Experience with motors, motor control, and medium voltage electrical distribution systems
