Job Description

Role is accountable for the creating, developing, and implementing the processes, policies, and projects that impact customer product fulfillment including the supply and operations planning in the businesses. Makes key decisions regarding business strategies to include supply planning, production scheduling, lead times, minimum order quantities, inventory strategies and project management.  Links the customer needs and system constraints through business plans and Supply Chain/Operations plans.  Responsible for leading global business Supply Planning process and driving near term business results, longer term operations performance and asset deployment.  Must lead without authority more than 100 key participants in the project execution, policy creation, and process implementation.  Direct reporting relationship to Director, Central Planning, strong link to Operations & Business Leadership.

Leads the development of Supply Management process discipline, technology enablement and process standardization across businesses of the rolling monthly supply plan with a minimum 18 month effective operational planning horizon and continuity through a telescoping 3-5 year strategic planning horizon in both volume and financial perspectives that are aligned with growth strategies

  • Responsible for the development of global MTO/MTS designations and appropriate lead-time policies
  • Development of “key” business rules for Supply planning across businesses as well as metrics to show performance/impact (Minimum Order Quantities, Inventory, Production Freeze period, etc)
  • Partner with the responsible parties to measure and utilize key metrics to establish inventory, product sourcing, and acquisition of assets to meet high level of customer service.
  • Accountable for maturation of supply forecast, supply management and strategic forecast used for Division strategic planning. Track execution.
  • Develop foundational blueprint for supply planning system to include forecasting, rough cut capacity, planning, master production scheduling and production planning.
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain to develop annual and strategic plan consistent with the Divisional Business plan, marketing strategies, new technology, outsourcing decisions, and capital expenditures.
  • Ensure Operations and Supply Chain capability is in place to support new product commercialization process.
  • Works with Tactical Supply Planning, Manufacturing, and Sourcing to collect and analyze detailed supply planning and supply-side market data to improve the predictability of business performance and drive proactive insight to supply-side dynamics.
  • Defines and tracks supply performance, including attainment to schedule, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Service and Inventory Performance, Compliance to Supply Strategies, Return on Invested Capital, and other relevant metrics to drive continuous improvement of predictability in financial performance while minimizing brute-force efforts to arrive at results.
  • Responsible for ensuring linkage of Supply plan to production scheduling within manufacturing locations
  • Establish framework and implement effective Supply Review briefing materials to inform Leadership of the latest scenario-based, operational supply outlook and identify key opportunities for Leadership influence to effect outcomes.
  • Implements and Drives Change Management initiatives throughout the Supply Planning process
  • Implements technology enablers (MRP, ATP, Supply Planning Tool, etc.) to align with business goals and objectives

Required Experience

  • Must have Supply planning experience
  • Supply Chain operations experience
  • Proven expert in management of change as many policies will have to be created which will be a challenge for the business to adopt and embrace
  • Strong ability to lead without authority as this position only indirect responsibility in working with many functional areas that will require changes in the way they execute project support, implement process changes, and enforce new policies
  • 15+ years’ experience in operations planning, experience on both the strategic and tactical sides preferred.
  • Experience with at least 3 functions between sales management, marketing, finance, S&OP, Operations or Supply Chain
  • B.S. in business with supply chain emphasis 

 

Preferred Qualifications

M.S. degree in Supply Chain preferred          

Advanced technical training and/or manufacturing operations experience preferred

APICS Certification (CSCP) preferred
