Job Description

We’re hiring a Category Manager to focus on Indirect Categories and be aligned to Engineering, Capital Equipment and Construction Services Strategic Sourcing activities and will report to the Director of Global Strategic Sourcing, Capital. This role will require focus, possibility thinking, communication, business partnering skills and influencing.  The role is  responsible for developing and executing complex procurement strategies to provide business-building innovation, supplier quality solutions, comprehensive cost baselines, risk identification, with an extreme focus and attention to collaboration and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders as well as delivering total cost savings through commercial and technical project management and effective supplier relationship management.  You will be responsible for building stakeholder relationships, developing and executing global category strategies, supplier quality solutions, comprehensive cost baselines, and risk identification. The Category Manager will conduct RFx, negotiate contracts, price and payment terms, and demand planning negotiations that focus on total cost of ownership while adhering to procurement policies and procedures.

 

The ideal candidate will be based at our corporate headquarters in Columba, MD, however a hybrid or remote location is also available.  Additional responsibilities include:

 

  • Provide differentiated value through providing recommendations and solutions to meet business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement/innovation.
  • Analyze data or insights to determine industry and market trends, devises long-term development strategies for improved category performance.
  • Incorporate end-to-end procurement activities and integrates business plans with sourcing decisions, financial performance and supply/service requirements.
  • Utilize advanced analytical skills and business intelligence to drive sourcing process end-to-end from selection through performance management to stay ahead of any sourcing issues and maximize value to Grace.
  • Ensure business continuity, governance and management for all types of supplier risk (including geographical, financial, performance related, financial, geopolitical and corporate social responsibility/regulatory compliance risks).
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to include international.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with developing contracting strategies and project procurement plans, developing ‘should costs’ models, and other analytics to aid in decision making and strategy creation.
  • Demonstrated use of applying a Procurement Process methodology.  
  • Proficient in Excel and an ERP, SAP preferred.
  • Strong business acumen along with effective internal and external influencing and negotiating skills. 
  • Must be able to critically review and negotiate contracts and possess an understanding of standard contract boilerplates.
  • Able to critically evaluate supplier financial health and capabilities.

Required Experience

  • B.S. in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
  • 7 years’ work experience as a Category Manager with global procurement that includes at least 5 years’ category experience in Engineering, Capital Equipment or Construction Procurement

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Supply chain certification (CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CFPIM).
