Job Description

We're looking for Sr. Buyers to join our Intergrated Supply Chain department and be part of our transformation. At Grace we hire people that have ideas, expertise and desire to want to help drive change, while also focusing on Safety. As a Sr. Buyer you will support the Category Managers in the development of raw material and packaging sourcing strategies. Additional responsibilities include: 


  • Conduct searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluate their capabilities, assess risk and qualify as necessary.
  • Fully understand user requirements and prepare and execute Requests for Proposals.
  • Minimize the Total Cost of Ownership associated with the purchase of goods and services.
  • Execute and aid in completion all stakeholder internal paperwork for vendor creation or updates.
  • Negotiate purchase agreements with key vendors for the reliable and cost-effective supply of goods and services and ensure compliance with said terms. 
  • Issue purchase orders, track open orders and expedite orders as necessary.
  • Effectively manage the transition from incumbent to new suppliers. 
  • Pursue consolidation of the supply base to reduce complexity.
  • Manage supplier quality and conduct supplier audits as necessary.  Resolve supplier complaints and issues in a way that achieves an acceptable outcome to Grace.
  • Work cross-functionally within the ISC organization and other support functions such as R&D, EHS, Quality, Product Stewardship and Marketing.
  • Identify, execute and track productivity including cost reduction and cash flow improvement and support the development of the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Interact with plants, business and corporate management as appropriate and prepare and present internal reports and project bid outcomes as required.
  • Support working capital goals by reducing where possible, the direct material inventory and increasing the ADP by negotiating longer payment terms with suppliers.

Required Skills

  • Experience in both Direct and Indirect sourcing preferred, in a variety of categories particularly acids, solvents, organics and inorganics, EH&S, MRO, stores and facilities.
  • Capable of prioritizing, managing and executing multiple tasks.
  • Strong sense of matrix environment with ability to effectively work within a team environment
  • Fact-based approach with solid analytical skills and ability to drive projects to successful completion.
  • Working knowledge of logistics including Incoterms.
  • Ability to negotiate supply contracts with solid understanding of contract terms and conditions. 
  • Able to work cross-culturally with colleagues and suppliers throughout the world.
  • Capable of communicating effectively (both oral and written) across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong proficiency with SAP particularly in PO creation, release and updating pricing info records and ability to work with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.

Required Experience

  • BS degree from an accredited university, preferably in supply chain management or engineering. 
  • 7 years work experience in a global industrial/manufacturing environment with at least 5 years’ experience in SAP, sourcing, negotiations, PR to PO creation with both and tactical and strategic procurement projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supply chain certification (CSCP, CPIM, CFPIM).
  • MBA
