Job Description

The Directory of Global Quality will define W.R. Grace’s strategy with respect to quality and the design of its quality operating system, drive its implementation, organization, focus and controls across the businesses globally. The Quality Strategy will underpin a culture and change initiative involving both cultural and behavioral transformations that will result in step function change in our thinking resulting in world-class end to end quality. The Quality organization will be focused on proactive quality assurance measures designed to continuously improve the quality of Grace’s products and processes. This position is also accountable to support the development and improvement of the Grace Manufacturing principles, its objectives, practices, standards and metrics.

The Quality organization will continue to utilize and improve quality systems, tools and processes to address critical quality gaps when they exist. The Quality Systems will address the differing needs of the business, markets, functional and technology drivers leveraging standardized tools and methodologies (8D, Apollo, Lean, Six Sigma, and others.)

The Director, Global Quality will facilitate the development, implementation and/or maintenance of Quality policies, practices, and systems, and foster implementation by all employees in the organization. In this role, you will drive best business practice and expand significantly our definitions, capture and improvement of Cost of Poor Quality.   You will bring expertise to the organization, help develop core competencies with plant leadership and champion pro-activity.

Required Skills

Develop the Quality Strategy, drive its implementation, put in place the processes and procedures, and create the organization needed to meet and exceed the Grace’s Customer needs.

Partner with Integrated Supply Chain, Proces Technology and Business leaders across Grace.

Drive development and implementation of Grace Manufacturing strategies related to the Quality function.

Lead the quality organization and business in utilizing quality tools to drive root cause analysis using robust problem solving techniques to facilitate world class Quality performance.

Develop and maintain Best Business Practices and other benchmark principles. Drive these tools and usage into all levels of the organization.

Champions change management processes.

Lead all aspects of the Quality organization including building quality functional capabilities unto the business, building the team globally and across business unit and driving the functional strategic talent review process.

Support product engineering teams in the resolution of top customer issues and in the application of advanced statistical analysis, problem solving techniques and quality tools.

Support supplier quality initiatives and build a reliable and capable supply chain.

Support plants in, scrap reduction and process performance improvement initiatives including FMEA, PPAP, etc.

Plan and lead periodic process audits at manufacturing locations to ensure conformance and compliance to standardized quality policies, processes, and metrics.

Ensure systems are in place to validate corrective actions and control plans for top warranty/scrap/process performance issues.

Develop and maintain the Quality metrics dashboard, including cost of poor quality metrics, and manage report out of quality scorecards.

Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity related to the product, process, and quality systems.

Provides technical leadership, mentors and coaches staff.

Facilitates benchmarking process to identify key enablers to improve our profitability, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and retention.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, manufacturing management Advanced business or technical degree preferred.

10 to 15 years’ experience of Quality Assurance

Experience in Quality systems including ISO and TS

Excellent communication, leadership, and PC skills.

Willing to travel 20 to 30%
