Job Description

The Sales Area Manager is responsible for delivering net new customer acquisition and maintaining/expanding existing accounts within assigned territory to deliver sales growth at target margins within the Materials Technology Business. This position reports directly to the North America General Sales Manager, Engineered Materials and will work in Consumer, Food/Nutrition, Industrial, Personal Care, Plastics and other segments as they fit.


  • Responsible for maintaining and growing direct accounts and one or more resellers within the territory
  • Prospecting / Lead Generation and converting new accounts within the territory
  • Develop strategies focused on expanding client base within defined market segments
  • Maintain close contact with assigned accounts by establishing strong relationships with key decision makers
  • Utilize advanced offering knowledge and understanding of the customer’s business to develop customized proposals
  • Forecast revenue potential for each account / reseller and prioritize time accordingly
  • Engage cross-functional teams during the sales process, as necessary (i.e. Technical Service, Marketing, Product Management, Order fulfillment, & Others)
  • Effectively collaborate with sales colleagues & leaders on large account coordination

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited university
  • 7+ years of demonstrated successful business-to-business (B2B) sales experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • B2B Technical Sales Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related technical discipline
  • Advanced degree
  • Experience within the Chemical manufacturing industry
