Job Description

Grace is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Analyst to join our Trade Compliance Department. The position reports to the Trade Compliance Manager and is located at our Columbia MD headquarters. The role will be responsible for export compliance (screening of government denied party lists and export license determination), obtaining and processing international trade data from suppliers, and all interactions to support customs clearance activities for W.R. Grace. You will provide guidance, resolves issues, independently manage projects, and ensure the smooth flow of Graces product throughout our global operations. You will work closely with Grace business units to ensure compliance with all export/import regulations, corporate policies as well as any country specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to transactional inquiries from customs brokers for products which require additional information. 
  • Responsible for Assists in managing trade compliance risk profile in the United States and Canada against everchanging regulations, with particular emphasis on valuation, classification, broker management, FTAs and export control.
  • Field and respond to queries on day-to-day trade matters:
    • Import compliance
    • Export compliance
    • HTS classification
    • Free Trade Agreement qualification
    • Country of origin determination
    • Import and export valuation
    • Restricted party screening 
  • Conduct internal audits to determine import and export compliance performance; and support external audit activities as needed.
  • Maintain manuals to comply with global trade compliance requirements.
  • Research and support various trade compliance projects and process improvement initiatives in the areas of Customs Valuation, Customs Broker Management, Record Keeping, Denied Party Screening, Country of Origin, amongst others.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and develop metrics and reports to gauge success.
  • Participate in third party service provider reviews.
  • Conduct internal audits to determine import and export compliance performance; and support external audit activities as needed.
  • Interpret global trade compliance regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 4+ years related experience in Customs brokerage environment/Trade Compliance
  • Must be self-motivated and have a working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States and Customs Regulations (Chapter 19, Code of Federal Regulations).
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Solid knowledge and experience working with SAP, GTS, Microsoft's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customs Broker’s license.
