Job Description

W.R. Grace & Co. a leading manufacturer of Specialty Chemicals has an immediate need for a Manager responsible for the site facilities services. Powerhouse operations (Boilers, Air compressors, Air Dryers, Combined Heat and Power equipment), and maintenance rotating shift (4 persons) and call-in. Position will lead the Powerhouse and be responsible for managing service contractors for facility fire safety system, HVAC, scaffolding and, insulation and underground piping system.  Night Maintenance Supervisors, Powerhouse operators, and night maintenance crafts will report into this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including environmental and process safety, and a safe workplace for all employees
     
  • Address hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner
  • Drives EHS initiatives within areas of responsibility
  • Provide mechanical and operational troubleshooting
  • Ensure Night Maintenance shops are maintained in a clean and orderly way
  • Reviews performance of employees and works continuously to improve performance and productivity
  • Holds employees accountable for working safely, and productively, producing quality work
  • Works closely with Central Maintenance Planners to plan and schedule maintenance work
  • Responsible for area reporting requirements including SAP PM Information, labor reporting, and document preparation
  • Evaluates SAP PM requirements, and helps to develop equipment maintenance plans as required
  • Strives to improve equipment uptime, quality and rates; Strives to reduce maintenance cost, and ensures the timely reporting of expenditures
  • Ensure water treatment program for boiler is sustained and compliance with codes and standards for all work within areas of responsibility
  • Supports maintenance excellence initiatives, capital projects, and training requirements as required

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED
  • 7+ years of maintenance/ operations experience in chemical manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing in a Union environment
  • Knowledge of Steam plant operations, air compressors, air dryers
  • SAP experience
  • Team leadership skills
  • Very good people skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • High level of communication skills across different functional groups.
  • Broad chemical plant and maintenance knowledge and experience.
  • Capable of leading change within organization.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts if necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Maryland Class 1 Stationary Engineers license
  • Previous supervisory experience in facilities maintenance is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of (CHP) combined heat and power units
